For many years, one of my favorite hobbies has been cooking, especially creating recipes for new dishes and recreating dishes I have enjoyed in restaurants.  Below I have listed links to sites where you can obtain recipes or ingredients which are not always easily obtainable at your local grocer..

  • Recipe Goldmine
[This site has a huge assortment of recipes, both from regular folks and clones of dishes from well-known restaurants.  Additionally, there are recipes which were provided by some restaurants’ chefs] ]
  • Epicurious.com
[This is the homepage of Gourmet and Bon Appettit magazines, two of my favorite sources for recipes]
  • ChefShop
[This site offers a wide variety of gourmet foods, from olive oils to preserves to dried mushrooms. They aren’t the least expensive, nor do they have the widest variety, but they have a good stock of those ingrediants that help transform plain food into something more]
  • Earthy Delights
[My mouth waters at the thought of fresh exotic mushrooms and gourmet cheeses and this is one place you can buy them on the web. You can also purchase lavender jelly and truffle mousse or order a gift basket for that person  who craves the finer tatses of life]
  • Coffee Review
[For those of you who crave that cup of java in the morning, this may be a site you wish to peruse.  It offers reviews of coffees from around the planet, and includes links to where you may purchase them. It also has an interesting little section on the history of coffee]
  • Hot Fudge Recipe(This is one of my favorite recipes. I cannot recall where I obtained the original, however it has undergone many revisions over the years.  What stands today is dark and rich.  It should pour onto ice cream but nearly solidify there)

    Ingredients:

    3 Tbs butter
    8 oz. dark chocolate
    1/2 cup dark brown sugar
    1/3 cup white sugar
    1/2 cup cocoa powder
    1/2 cup whipping cream
    1 tsp. vanilla

    Preparation:
Break the chocolate into small pieces. Melt the chocolate and butter together over medium heat, being careful not to scorch the chocolate. Remove the mixture from the heat and add the sugars and the cocoa powder. Mix these together until they form a thick paste.  Return to the heat and add the cream, stirring until the sugar crystals have completely dissolved and the mixture is smooth. Add the vanilla.
